Moving Time!

Don’t get excited all you northern friends and family.  We’re not moving anywhere; we’re not leaving Atlanta any time soon.  So who is moving you ask?  The blog is!  The blog is moving!

You can now find us at Typical Suburban Family.

I promise this is the last move.  I know you just updated all of your subscriptions and RSS feeds 7 months or so ago when I moved from blogger to WordPress, but I’m now on the self hosted version of WordPress and loving it!  I have so much more flexibility with plug-ins and add-ons.  Plus I can customize it way more than I could before and love it!  I even have some great giveaways lined up over the next month or so.

I started with a basic template, but then added and changed and tweaked everything about it and came up with my new blog.  It’s taken me all week to get this up and running, but so far I love it.  Leave me a comment on my new blog and let me know what you think.  I hope you’ll follow me there… I gave several different ways to do so and they are all in the right side bar.  You can subscribe via RSS feed, email or Google friend connect.

So yes, today I am featuring myself on my new blog. Mainly because I’m so proud of myself for designing it and customizing it all on my own with little to no experience doing so.  I only had to drag my hubby into it to troubleshoot the coding if/when I did it incorrectly.  Thank you honey!!

So now go check it out please!

I know, I know.  I missed Feature Friday last week.  I have a million excuses why, but I won’t bore you with those details.  Today, I am back in action and ready to share a favorite site with you.

I was introduced to this blog through one of the blogfrog communities I follow.  I bookmarked it and started to check it often.  I love it.  It’s clean; it’s easy to read; and the story that Kelle shares about her two daughters is amazing.  I love her writing style.

And the photos that she shares?  Well, simply amazing is all that I can say.  Simply amazing.

So today, enjoy one of my new favorite blogs Enjoying the Small Things.  And tell Kelle you said hello.  Although she really has no idea who I am; I’ve been a silent follower of her site until right now.  LOL!

I know I’ve been MIA this week.  I’ve been traveling for a work conference and haven’t had much free time to blog, connect and engage with everyone.  But I’m back now and trying to catch up on this hot and humid Friday afternoon.

So instead of a Feature Friday where I pick a blog to talk about, I’m giving you all the opportunity to a Feature Yourself Friday post.  Leave a comment with a little blurb about what your blog is about and why others should visit you.  I can’t wait to check all the blogs out myself so start posting!

And now I’m off to Home Depot for supplies to hopefully save my poor little fruit producing peach tree that somehow toppled over in some storms we had while I was away.  I’m so bummed over the whole thing and hope I can save the little tree… wish me luck!

Feature Friday time again!  Where do the weeks go?  Seriously!  It’s been another busy in our house.  We made a day trip to Big Canoe, GA; we discovered veggies growing in our garden; Owen got glasses; designed some business cards, marketing cards & stickers for a client; designed my own ad for a magazine and of course, I’ve blogged.

The blog I am featuring today is one that actually prompted me to start blogging myself.  I’m not even sure if Dee realizes that, but it was almost two years ago when we were emailing back and forth and she told me about the blog she started.  She was telling me how great it was to be able to share stories, photos and their life with family and friends that they didn’t see on a regular basis.  Then she said how she thought I would really enjoy it and it would be great for me as well since I’m so many states away from my hometown, family and friends.

I thought about it for a few hours and thought, why not?  So I started my blog!  I had no idea what to write, who would read it or how long I would keep it up.   My very first blog post can be found here.  Keep in mind I started on blogger so this was imported to WordPress from my original blog.

And here I am over a year and a half later still blogging and loving it!  So even if you didn’t know it, thank you Dee.  I owe you for prompting me to start my blog.

Dee is the author of A Little Girl & Her Purple Cat. She has a great writing style and shares some of the cutest pictures ever.  She loves to clean and organize; she gardens and she’s such a great mommy!  I’m sure you’ll have a lot in common with her.  Go take a look, leave her a comment and tell her I said hello!

Where did the week go?  How can it be Feature Friday time already?!  In the last week I have created my Feature Friday logo, visited hundreds of new blogs, been featured on WordPress Freshly Pressed (article here), planned and executed a Summer Kickoff party for a 300+ home neighborhood, designed some wedding invitations, worked on a Memories of Mom scrapbook for someone, worked full time at my office job, blogged and gardened.  That’s all on top of my favorite job of raising my two little men.  Hmmmm…. no wonder the week has flown by!

And since I mentioned gardening, I would like to move right into my Feature Friday for today.  I was introduced to Feet off the Table through a gardening post that I did several weeks ago.  We made a few comments on each other’s blog and it turns out that we have a lot in common.  From kids, to gardens to Wisconsin roots, I’ve had a lot of fun getting to know Aliceson and am thankful that the blogging world has brought this new friend and connection.

With a fun blog title like Feet off the Table, how could you not want to go check her site out!  She includes a lot of really great photos in her posts.  It makes me miss my Wisconsin roots!!  I may live in Atlanta now, but did you know I’m originally from Wisconsin??  Aaahh… I miss it.  Not in the wintertime of course, but this time of year there is wonderful!

So go check out her blog, leave her a comment and tell her I sent you 😉  And if you’d like to be considered for an upcoming Feature Friday, please leave me a comment with your blog so that I can check you out.  I really enjoyed checking out all of the blogs left last week and can’t wait to feature some!

Feature Friday

I love new people visiting my blog .  And I personally love to visit other new blogs.  I love to connect with others and learn and from them and their experiences.  I love to share advice and tips and, well, just chat and get to know other people.  Everyone has a story to tell and lessons to be learned from.  And over the last week I’ve connected with several great new blogs.  And this gave me an idea.  Since my personal goal is to meet new people and find new blogs to connect with each week, I decided to start a Friday Feature** section on my blog (logo for this to come soon!).

Today, on my first Feature Friday I would like to share with you It Keeps Getting BetterAnd not just because she posted gardening and landscaping photos for me on her blog!!

The author of this blog, Ashley is my cousin on my dad’s side of the family.  Growing up we went to the farm every Sunday for homemade chicken soup.  Her grandparents owned the farm and hosted the family there all the time.  Everyone was welcome there regardless of the day, time or reason.  There was always food on the table and people visiting.  We had family holidays there and spent countless hours hanging out with family.

Ashley and I grew up as little girls running around the farm, playing in the barn and helping with the garden.  Over the years as our teenage lives got busier and family gatherings became fewer and further between, I lost contact with Ashley.  But over the last year or so we connected again through our blogs and even though I haven’t actually seen in her in years (she lives in MN and us in GA) and have not met her cute little kiddos, I feel like I know them thanks to our blogs.

But not only is Ashley family, I also respect her as a mommy, a wife, a friend and a blogger.  I love that she updates her blog regularly and shares not only the good, but the not so good as well.  She was even featured as Parent of the Month for a blog on MSN called “The Family Room”.  You can check out her post and article here.

Stop by her blog, leave a comment and tell her I sent you over 😉

** If you want to be included in an upcoming Feature Friday, subscribe to my blog (email subscription box found in the right column).  And don’t forget to also leave me a comment with your blog link so I can follow you back and get to know you better!
