It’s hard to believe that these two cutie pies are actually friends.

Don't even think about it!

They were born 3 weeks a part and have been having play dates since they were only a few months old.  Granted the play dates were more for the mommies and the little guys just hung out unaware there was another baby in the room.  But they are now finally at the point that they play and every once in awhile they even play together.  And it only took 22 months.

Owen knows what it’s like to have a big brother.  And when you have a big brother you have to always be aware of your surroundings at all times.  Why you ask?  Well it’s because you need to be ready to defend your popsicle in the event that the big brother swoops in and takes it away when he finishes his own.

So Owen decided that he was going to give the evil stares and put the warning out there that if Pace swoops in for his popsicle that he will regret it.  And Pace is completely unaware of these unwritten rules and is just enjoying every lick of this super special summer treat.

It was a sticky red mess when they were through, but oh did they enjoy it!  And remember how my OCD and popsicle don’t mix well?  I can guarantee you that it wasn’t my idea (daddy) to put bright red fruit punch in the popsicle molds.  And I won’t even mention who it was that did it (daddy).   But boy did the kids enjoy it.  So despite the red stickiness, thanks daddy!

I admit it.  I’m a little OCD and am not a fan of dirty, messy, sticky kids.  So giving them popsicles on a hot, humid day in Atlanta ranks up there with things I love to do.  Right.  But I know how much they absolutely love them and as long as the mess is contained to the great outdoors, I can deal with it.  Sort of.

Last weekend I made apple juice popsicles.  Sounds healthy right?  And maybe not quite as sticky. And definitely a clear, non-staining color.

I had bought some popsicle molds from Target and filled them with 100% juice and stuck them in the freezer for a few hours.  Simple.

They were a huge hit.  In fact they were such a big hit that we had a complete and total meltdown when Owen happened to finish his.  He didn’t quite understand that he ate it all.

Once we got through the meltdown, life was good again.  And thankfully, Ryan didn’t take it quite as hard as Owen did when his was finished.

Anyone have any good cleaning products for messy, sticky kids?!    What is your favorite summer time treat?

Feature Friday time again!  Where do the weeks go?  Seriously!  It’s been another busy in our house.  We made a day trip to Big Canoe, GA; we discovered veggies growing in our garden; Owen got glasses; designed some business cards, marketing cards & stickers for a client; designed my own ad for a magazine and of course, I’ve blogged.

The blog I am featuring today is one that actually prompted me to start blogging myself.  I’m not even sure if Dee realizes that, but it was almost two years ago when we were emailing back and forth and she told me about the blog she started.  She was telling me how great it was to be able to share stories, photos and their life with family and friends that they didn’t see on a regular basis.  Then she said how she thought I would really enjoy it and it would be great for me as well since I’m so many states away from my hometown, family and friends.

I thought about it for a few hours and thought, why not?  So I started my blog!  I had no idea what to write, who would read it or how long I would keep it up.   My very first blog post can be found here.  Keep in mind I started on blogger so this was imported to WordPress from my original blog.

And here I am over a year and a half later still blogging and loving it!  So even if you didn’t know it, thank you Dee.  I owe you for prompting me to start my blog.

Dee is the author of A Little Girl & Her Purple Cat. She has a great writing style and shares some of the cutest pictures ever.  She loves to clean and organize; she gardens and she’s such a great mommy!  I’m sure you’ll have a lot in common with her.  Go take a look, leave her a comment and tell her I said hello!

Our house needs some help.  I need some help.  I feel like I’m 10 steps behind on cleaning and organizing and it’s starting to drive me nuts.  No, I promise I wasn’t nuts before.  Just now.

Every day I think about all the projects I want to do and set out to do.  But, between a full time job as an association director, running a small business (My Hello Designs), being a full time mommy, a full time wife, a full time dog owner (yes, she is very high maintenance so that counts as a full time job), a blogger, a facebook addict, and a new gardener, my hours per day are limited.

Something has to give during the waking hours each day and recently that has been the cleaning and organizing aspect of my life.  And I very much dislike that.  I am a planner by nature and profession and having so much disorganization in my house drives me nuts.  It doesn’t bother Jim in the least, but it drives me crazy.

Don’t get me wrong, our house isn’t dirty.  It’s just not sparkling clean and organized.  That is where I’m hoping you can help me.  I need some great organization suggestions on the following things:

  1. Mail Organization:  Currently our mail makes it through the front door and into a pile.  Some days the pile is on the table by the door; other days it makes it to a pile on the kitchen counter.  HELP!
  2. Book Organization:  We love to read books.  We read them everywhere in our house – toy room, kitchen, family room, bedroom.  They are everywhere and I need a quick easy way to keep them organized versus having them scattered throughout the house.  HELP!
  3. Shoe Organization:  I thought I had this one resolved. I have a basket for each kid and taught them to put their shoes in their basket when they take them off.  Now what do I do about the hubby’s shoes all over the house?!  HELP!
  4. Toy Organization:  Is this a lost cause?!  HELP!
  5. Dog Toy Organization:  Seriously!  I find more dog toys around this house than kid toys most days!

And when it comes to cleaning I typically buy whatever is on sale or whatever I have a coupon for.  I’m not particular, but after my new Colgate toothpaste experience last week (remember this?), I would really like to find some cleaning products that I love just as much.  I seriously LOVE my new Colgate Total Advanced Whitening toothpaste!  Do you have any cleaning products that you love as much as I love my toothpaste?  I’m looking for the following products:

  1. Hardwood floor cleaner
  2. Stainless steel appliance cleaner
  3. Granite counter top cleaner
  4. Dusting product for wood furniture

Currently I use Tide HE for laundry and I like it, but I’m not attached. I love the smell and it does what I need it to do, but I thought the same about my old toothpaste and look where that got me!  For the dishwasher I use Cascade Complete.  Again, not attached.

So, if you have any great products you want to recommend to me, I would love to hear them.  Or if you have any brilliant ideas (or have seen brilliant ideas on other blogs) regarding organization, I would welcome those.  Actually, I am sort of begging for help in that area.  My summer goal is to get my house organized and to have a garage sale to declutter.
